Welcome to Trezor Start. This onboarding journey will help you set up your Trezor hardware wallet, understand essential security rules, and prepare you to safely send, receive, and manage digital assets. Whether you are brand-new to crypto or upgrading your security with a new device, following these steps ensures you begin with confidence.
Inspect your Trezor box. It should have intact hologram seals and show no signs of tampering. Trezor never ships devices with a preset PIN or recovery phrase — if yours has one, do not use it.
Go to trezor.io/start and download Trezor Suite for your operating system. Plug in your Trezor device with the included USB cable and launch the app. This software is your secure interface for managing accounts and transactions.
Most new Trezor devices ship without firmware. Trezor Suite will guide you to install the official firmware. Always confirm the installation process on your device screen before continuing.
Choose “Create new wallet” in Trezor Suite. The device will generate a recovery seed phrase. Carefully write down each word in order on the provided recovery card. Never type it on your computer, phone, or cloud.
Define a secure PIN directly on your Trezor device. This adds a strong layer of physical protection. Avoid easy-to-guess patterns or repeating numbers.
Within Trezor Suite, add your desired cryptocurrency accounts. Verify addresses directly on your device before receiving funds. For sending, confirm every transaction on the Trezor screen to block malware attacks.
Security reminders
Never share your recovery seed with anyone. Trezor staff will never ask for it. Store it securely, preferably offline and in multiple safe locations. Use the passphrase feature only if you fully understand its implications. Keeping firmware updated is essential, as updates may include vital security improvements.
